Easter Egg Hunt For Families With Children Adopted From Guatemala

To raise money for the next event they had everyone donate a toy and then you could pay five dollars and get a new one. Gio found the one and only Bob Builder one right away.

Breetz taking his work very seriously.

Gio loves peeling the backs off of stickers. Last year that's all he wanted to do at the craft table. This year he also enjoyed placing them on the paper.
The Easter Bunny stopped by for a visit and handed out baskets full of (plastic) eggs.
Mom's cupcake sandwich.

Breetz would get an egg out of the basket, hand it to me and happily say "cannay" (candy)

They gave Gio some leftover donut holes and he just loved carrying the container around. Breetz looked so cute with his backwards fire hat.

Whitchy Poo Shoes

I'm sure we all wear things at home that we wouldn't necessarily wear out but this is just too funny not to share. Mom was stretching out her new shoes and I told her those socks and shoes together remind me of one of the witches in the Wizard Of Oz.

I Want To Pinch Your Cheeks

My boys are so lucky to have such a loving Grandmother. I am so thankful because I know not everone does. And not only does she love them dearly but the feelings are obviously mutual. If Joe or I are talking and her name comes up one or both of them will stop what they're doing and start talking about her. I love to see them playing and laughing together like this.

Coloring Eggs

Breetz had a great time coloring eggs. He really liked the tool for getting the eggs out.Anyone who knows me knows I'm against artificial colors. I really don't think they are healthy or needed. However I am not anal about it. I also don't want to deprive my children of experiences. So when Breetz started coloring his face and hands with egg dye I chalked it up to a childhood experience. I hope next year to use natural dyes. I recently attended a workshop where turmeric was used to dye wool yellow.
Gio really enjoyed coloring eggs this year.
He asked about what was inside the egg.
He peeled off the shell and was so proud of himself.
Discovering the white and the yolk.
He did this twice. I think because he wanted to be sure each egg was the same. This past year he received a plastic egg every morning. Most days it was filled with a combination of fruit and nuts but every now and then there was a sweet in it.
Picking out stickers. Gio put one on the top of each egg. I pictured him covering them in stickers but he didn't.

A Visit To Wegmans

After a delicious dinner at Wegman's Market Cafe, Gio suggested we enjoy some gelato. There was a cute chick cupcake display in the bakery section. The chicks looked like the two pictured above. There was one per clear box. As you walked by you could hear chicks peeping.
Gio liked the pumpkin, raspberry, and chocolate flavors.
Breetz's favorite was the pumpkin.
Wegmans has some of the coolest signs.
We decided that the boys should pick out gifts for their grandparents this year. These were Gio's choices until he saw Nabisco cheese crackers. "Abuelo likes these!!" he proclaimed excitedly.

Breetz holding the goldfish mix-ups he got for his grandparent's Easter present.
"Mom can we have a cookie p a l e e s z? They're right here."

Easter

Breetz with his basket of gifts and his basket of eggs.
Finding eggs
Helping dad find his gift.
New shoes. Breetz loves to put on shoes.
Breetz was impressed with the treats in the eggs.
Way cool Thomas sunglasses.
If this was the only Easter gift Gioi got he still would have been a very happy boy.

Yum cranberries.

Playdough

Recently I made playdough with the boys for the first time. The recipe is easy: 1 cup salt, 2 cups flour, 2 tablespoons oil, food coloring and or herbs if you so choose, and enough water to make it a doughlike consistency. I halved the recipe. Gio chose yellow like scoop and I added a few drops of garlic oil to help kill some of the germs as Breetz was just finishing up a cold. We used it for two days. Just cover with plastic to prevent it from drying out. I like tat it is not only nontoxic but natural and easy.
